Tour and briefing on new media at the Franklin Institute Museum

Abstract

During your visit to The Franklin Institute, you'll meet with exhibit developers and see the latest media installations in the museum. A highlight will be in the Electricity gallery where devices have been enhanced with augmented reality technology as part of a research project that seeks to understand its potential for integrating the experiential and interpretive aspects of hands-on science learning. Using fixed-position augmented reality, visitors interact with the device and with digital content simultaneously. Finally, a walk through the classic Giant Heart is an old media experience – but it's a rite of passage for every Philadelphian and for every visitor to the city of brotherly love.
