Jane Pickering
Jane Pickering was assistant curator at the Oxford University Museum from 1989-97 where she was responsible for all aspects of curation of an internationally important research collection and developed a full public education program based on the collections. As Senior Curator at the Royal College of Surgeons of England from 1997-1998, she managed the College's four museums and led initiatives to improve access to the collections for both the general public and the medical community. In 1998 she moved to the US to be the Director of the MIT Museum where she oversees all aspects of the museum's programs and policies; undertakes strategic planning; manages personnel; and represents the Museum to the public. The MIT Museum is dedicated to interpreting and communicating the work of MIT: its world-renowned research and teaching in the sciences, technology and management; its thriving arts and humanities programs; and its innovative and distinguished work at the meeting point of art, science and technology. Pickering holds an MA degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and an MS in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester. She is a graduate from the 2001 Getty Leadership Institute's Museum Management Institute.
