The Tech Virtual: An Online Museum Design Community

Abstract

What if you had, at your fingertips, a network of creative people to call on at any given moment when developing your exhibits and programs? What if exhibit concept and design could be augmented by input from a wide array of people, and then in turn, contribute to a knowledge base for the industry?  What if you could easily find collaborators and communities who are just as passionate as you are about the art and science of museum design?

TheTechVirtual.org has been renovated to provide an online destination to do just that. Expanding from its roots as a real-time exhibit prototyping platform, and winner of the $10K Linden Prize in 2010, the site has been overhauled to make the tasks facing exhibit and program developers faster, easier, and more collaborative.
This one-of-a-kind online community makes it easy to share best-practices, discover ideas and content, build prototypes, and even create detailed 3D models. Join us for a hands-on demonstration of the new site, which was developed using interviews and personas specifically for the museum sector.

It's proven that pace of innovation in any field can be directly increased from open idea exchange. Learn how to incorporate content, designs, and technology from artists, designers, educators, filmmakers, and even Google into your upcoming exhibits and programs.
