Catedral. Libro de Piedra is an application that wants to be exactly what its name says: a book teaching about St. James Way as a cultural itinerary of great historical value. This suite of applications and contents was created to turn into a museum, through creativity and new technologies, the places and monuments around St. James way. The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is an important pilgrimage centre where thousands of people arrive every year.  A real book made out of stone.

Catedral. Libro de Piedra pretends to get its users closer to the patrimonial and cultural richness of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, its museum and the city itself through original contents. This project takes a special relevance because 2010 was a Jubilee year and everyone in the world can visit this wonder of Romanesque in a way that otherwise would be impossible.

Catedral. Libro de Piedra uses cutting edge technologies to show Santiago de Compostela and its most emblematic monument, the Cathedral of Santiago, with an unprecedented level of detail. Proof of this is that, to carry out the project, has been taken more than 60,000 high resolution photographs.

This is a project that uses images with a level of detail so high that make it possible to discover, in a completely visual way, the history of the Cathedral of Santiago. It also includes information related to the item being viewed in three languages, Spanish, Galician and English.

Catedral. Libro de Piedra shows Galicia and its culture to the world, also becoming a very powerful visualization, inventoried and study of the elements of the Cathedral of Santiago tool. The potential of these technologies applied to museum contents and applications offers great development possibilities.

In this project, technological innovation is at the service of culture and heritage.

Different kinds of technology converge in the project. With different digital formats, immersive images, video 360 degrees, spherical and panoramic images and a three-dimensional virtual model of the Cathedral users can have a unique experience.

All that contents are adapted to different platforms. There are different versions of the applications for web, multi-touch screens, mobile devices and virtual worlds, giving a different approach for discovering museums to users.
