Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Data Architect will be responsible for the following deliverables during the contract period:

    • Quality Assurance: The Data Architect will perform, in conjunction with departmental stakeholders, QA testing on draft mappings and migrations to ensure data integrity.
    • Data Normalization: Where necessary, the Data Architect will develop and execute data normalization routines and protocols to ensure the accuracy and integrity of legacy data.
    • Primary Vendor Interface: During the implementation process, the Data Architect will be the primary interface between the collections management system vendor and Denver Art Museum staff.
    • Configuration and Customization: The Data Architect will work with the Vendor and stakeholders to configure data entry screens and produce custom Crystal Reports.
  • Manage the implementation of a new Digital Asset Management (DAM) system for the Museum. In parallel with the implementation of a new collections management system, the Museum will be implementing a DAM system for the management of internal assets. Within this management role are the following deliverables:
    • Schema design: The Data Architect will work directly with the Museum’s chosen DAM vendor to develop an appropriate metadata schema for multiple asset types.
    • Data mapping: The Data Architect will be responsible for mapping relevant collections data onto the DAM schema.
    • Integrate collections data and digital assets with existing business systems: The Data Architect will be responsible for integrating the collections management and digital asset management systems with existing business systems (primarily financial and fundraising systems).
  • Develop and/or implement web services for loose data coupling: The Data Architect will develop RESTful web services for the movement of data between multiple business systems.
  • Data Warehousing: If necessary, the Data Architect will design and implement a data warehouse for optimized storage and retrieval of data from multiple business systems.

Ongoing Responsibilities:
In addition to the timed deliverables listed above, the Data Architect will be responsible for supporting the on-going operations of the Museum, with responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Database design and performance tuning
  • Data normalization and systems optimization
