Job Title: New Media Content Researcher
Location: Silver Spring, MD or Los Angeles CA

MyDiscovery is searching for a new media content researcher. This role will create references to commonalities among media assets primarily video assets. In addition to ensuring the quality of metadata associated with new media as it is ingested into asset management systems, the New Media Content Researcher will audit the library archives to standardize that metadata as well. Needs to understand the uses for the metadata and cataloging strategy across all asset management systems and distribution platforms.. Responsibilities:• Dissect DCI video assets in Final Cut Server and/or Final Cut Pro, metadata/log each entry in all Media Asset Management systems• Maintain descriptive metadata schema and standardized data structures• Maintain updated procedures documentation for tasks performed• Work to a tight schedule that meets the needs of the department pipelineRequirements:• Prior logging and metadata entry experience necessary
· Final Cut Server & Final Cut Pro experience necessary
· Prior multimedia Content Management System experience required
· Attention to detail is critical in this role
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Creative Thinking and story telling skills a must
· Ability to work collaboratively with several different departments/stakeholders
· Experience with relational database structure is necessary
· Familiarity with Discovery programming a major plus
· Library science degree a plus

Job Title: New Media Associate Producer
Location: Silver Spring, MD or Los Angeles CA
Details: Aggregate and Curate Discovery Communications International content and freely available content for inclusion in app based product, 2-5 years digital experience ideal

MyDiscovery is seeking a new media associate producer to support the development and operation of app based products. Duties include aggregating the best of DCI content (including photos, articles, graphics) and the internet into comprehensive, topic driven, bundles. Additional duties include digital image and multimedia editing, entering content, and database management. You will also provide technical and administrative support to new media development projects and provide general office support.Successful applicants will have experience in building and maintaining Web pages and apps, familiarity with a variety of web-based interactive technologies, and excellent organizational skills in a team or office setting. The best qualified applicants will also have strong writing and communication skills; experience in one or more specialized areas such as, database design, archive research and audio/video editing; and demonstrated ability to learn, apply, and troubleshoot new tools and technologies.

Job Title: New Media Producer & Writer
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Details: Develop and curate Discovery Communications aggregated content, plus curated third party content, to create entertaining, informative and popular app’s for mass consumption. Minimum of 5 years of experience ideal.

MyDiscovery is seeking a new media producer & writer to support the development and operation of app based products. The New Media Producer & Writer will develop the appropriate tone and voice for each assigned app based on the DCI brand and will ensure development of the strategic vision for editorial content across any topic they are given. Write, produce and refine editorial content for each app and other digital platforms as applicable. Identify and assign stories to freelance journalists and bloggers as necessary. Conduct editorial review of all content prior to publishing the app. Curate links to relevant science stories and develop editorial and distribution partnerships to expand the reach and relevancy of MyDiscovery app content. Implement and manage a SEO focused editorial approach and develop best practices for the team. Maintain strong editorial social media presence both internally and through a network of journalists and bloggers working on DCI’s behalf. Work with Manager of Development and Senior team to inform and implement an overall digital strategy for each product.

Skills Required:

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience as a new media producer or journalist with a proven ability to produce and write under tight deadlines and cultivate a network of writers and bloggers. Experience writing in Science, History, Automotive, Space, Engineering and Lifestyle genres desired. Producing content for a digital environment, including any necessary video, related social media components, digital partners and multiple platforms, including mobile, is key and expertise with multi-media production is a must. Experience developing and telling stories that incorporate short form video, interactives, infographics and photos is important. Proven ability to work in a team environment and supervise editorial work of others. Experience with other digital platforms and content management systems is highly desirable.
