Why

The 'Set in Style' iPad application was designed to accompany the Cooper Hewitt exhibition of Van Cleef & Arpels, exploring the firm's contributions to 20th century jewelry design. Drawing from the Van Cleef archives and private collections, 'Set in Style' included over 250 works, including jewels, timepieces, fashion accessories, and objets d'art, showcasing a range of innovative techniques. The app provided a more detailed look at the objects in the show through scalable high-resolution images, allowing visitors to view details of the pieces in great detail, and videos that demonstrated the flexibility and transformative qualities of the jewelry. It also provided
in-depth additional content including videos on the VC&A design process, interviews with the Museum Director, curators, and exhibition designers. Viewers could comment on specific attributes of each piece and the exhibition as a whole, as well as sharing content with friends.'

The App had very good take up and response amogst a non-traditional iPad using audience (older visitors) and was lauded for its innvoative interaction design and depth of content.

It was made available for free download on the iTunes App Store also  providing a useful pre/post visit accompaniment.
