World Beach Project

Conference:
MW2008
Institution:
Victoria and Albert Museum
Designer:
Concept developed in partnership with artist Sue Lawty. Site designed and built in-house with help from freelance developer Toby Travis.
Why:

This site encourages truly global interaction by anyone of any age with minimum boundaries to taking part. Participants need no skills or experience, there are no difficult concepts and no costly materials are required. The challenge encourages contributors to think about pattern both naturally occurring and man-made and to look closely at the environment they are working in. The project is ongoing with no deadlines to exclude participation and encourages multiple entries allowing users to experiment endlessly with designs in one area or take opportunities when in other locations to see how their creativity is stimulated by different environments.
