Washington Stories

Washington State History Museum

WSHM began its foray into online education in 2003 in response to the gradual disappearance of history education in Washington schools caused by the push for standardized testing.  Our first effort was too much -- too much info, written at too high a level for our audience.  Through the past few years we have strived to get it right, and with the help of an IMLS grant, have developed a template for right-sizing these sites.  Washington Stories is the portal site, designed by in-house staff, for all our educational websites, including the two built using our template -- The West the Railroads Made, and Women's Votes, Women's Voices (to go live by Feb. 13) which was developed in support of the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage in Washington state.
