Digital Threads

Conference:
MW2008
Institution:
Textile Museum of Canada
Designer:
ecentricarts inc.
Why:

Digital Threads explores the artists’ creative process providing cognitive and highly interactive access for users to the processes, ideas and projects of five leading Canadian contemporary artists. The site also brings forward more than 50 past exhibitions at the Textile Museum of Canada, relating them to the artworks and using original themes to bring up-to-the-minute relevance to more than 19 years of curatorial practice at the Museum. Through an interactive studio, users can also create their own digital artworks inspired by the projects they explore with each artist. Each exhibition is rich in visual media and linked in exciting ways to thousands of artifacts in the Museum collection. The collection online can be searched through an intuitive and beautiful interface bringing forward rich digital assets and highly engaging “zoomify” interactives; users can see wonderful details of the artifact’s construction with this seamless and accessible Web tool.
