Small Museum
Why:

Since the physical museum is not yet built, the tour, event and exhibition information that are typically seen on a museum site, don’t exist. Instead, the site acts as a showcase for the American Revolution Center’s significant collection of artifacts. The collection is brought to the forefront with a fairly minimal navigation, full-bleed background images that scale to fit the browser size and a collections timeline that encourages interaction.

The site also promotes their first national survey on knowledge of the American Revolution as well as a searchable database of lesson plans which pulls from a number of Revolutionary War sources including Colonial Williamsburg, the National Endowment for the Humanitites’s EdSitement, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, George Washington’s Mount Vernon and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.
