Abstract

The paper describes the MaRSH project which is a collaboration between the creative and performing arts and a museum in the UK in order to explore the potential of Internet-based resources to make the museum's collection more accessible. The paper explains about the museum and the context within which it operates; discusses the particular technologies that the project is concerned with; describes the design approach taken; describes the processes of research and development undertaken so far, which have led to the prototype web site; and draws some conclusion from the work that will be applicable to other museums, to other web designers and, even, to designers of the Internet itself
