Kevin Sumption has worked for nearly ten years as both a science and social history curator. He is currently the National Project Manager of Australian Museums On-Line (AMOL) and at the same time Curator of Information Technology at the Powerhouse Museum. Kevin's original passion and indeed qualifications, are in the areas of design history and theory. As such he also lectures in Design History, Design Theory and Research Methodology at the University of Technology, Sydney. For many years he's focused his curatorial energies around the creation of computer-based education programs and developed a range of education resources for use within museums and the world wide web. He has also published a number of education texts on computer aided design, computer animation and desk top publishing. In the three years prior to taking up the position of National Manager of AMOL, he worked as co-curator of the exhibition "Universal Machine (UM)." UM examines the origins, meaning and impact of contemporary information technology and this year received the Dibner award from the Society of the History of Technology. Kevin has also completed a Masters of Arts at the University of Sydney, examining the legacy of traditional museum based education on web-based teaching and learning resources.

Kevin will present Beyond museum walls -- A critical analysis of emerging approaches to museum web-based education
