Systems Engineer, Minneapolis Institute of Arts

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA) seeks a qualified professional to design, install, configure and maintain server and network infrastructure, and to utilize best practices to deliver a robust, stable, secure, and integrated computing environment. Duties include: ensure the operation of
all server and network hardware, firmware, operating systems and software; ensure server and network efficiency, performance, access, security, backup, account management, and documentation; supervise one direct report; provide second-level technical support and staff mentoring; participate in planning, decision-making, and vendor relationships.
Requirements include: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science, or equivalent technical training and experience; three to five years demonstrated experience in network operations and support including setting up and configuring servers, switches, routers, firewalls and other
devices, with emphasis on Wintel Server environments; expert level knowledge of Windows Server 2000/2003/2008; working knowledge of network infrastructure, protocols, VoIP, wireless, QoS, VLANs, and network trouble shooting techniques; knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols; experience with tools for configurations and monitoring of server and network environments; experience with firewall
management; excellent problem solving skills and decision making ability; organized and efficient working style with attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; prior supervisory experience; ability to work independently and as an active team member on multiple
ongoing projects. Experience with google mail for domains and/or google apps preferred.
