Seeking institutional partner for capstone project in 3D virtual worlds

I have a team of four students working for the summer on a virtual worlds project; conceiving of ways that artifacts can be digitized and presented online as 3D models. We have a technology partner in place who will provide the tools for creating extremely low cost 3D models from video. The students will use their web development skills to create a microsite (or possibly a mobile application) to showcase a particular collection, incorporating the experience of navigating objects in a 3D world as well as social networking functionality.

To make the experience that much more valuable, I am looking for an institution who could be a resource to the students. To provide guidance on the operations side of your museum/gallery, to recommend a particular collection that would be appropriate for their project, and finally to promote the end result as part of your website.

Time frame is May-July 2010. If this is of interest, please contact me directly: ross.mckegney@gmail.com
