MW2010 Joining Instructions

More than 500 colleagues from 25 countries will be getting together at MW2010 in Denver. To make things easier for you, here are a few logistical reminders.

Registration (2nd floor)

The MW2010 Registration Desk is on the 2nd floor of the Grand Hyatt Denver.  Hours are:

Wednesday April 14: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm 
* you must register before going to the reception Wednesday night *

 Thursday April 15: 7:30 am - 6:00 pm

Friday April 16: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

Saturday April 17: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

Packing + Dress

It is spring in Denver, which means the weather could be quite variable. In the mountains there is still skiing; downtown it is likely to be chilly at night and pleasant during the day. Average daily temperatures for the month range from 35-61 F (2-16 C) with a good chance of seeing some rain, and lots of flowers.

Museums and the Web is a very informal meeting. Chances of finding someone in a jacket and tie, to say nothing of a suit, are remote. Our social events are equally informal and fun. So dress for comfort and style!

Arrival

The Denver International Airport is about 20 minutes drive from downtown Denver. You may take a taxi or a shuttle bus to reach the hotel. Public Transport takes about 60 minutes.

Food

Attendees will be served continental breakfasts each day, and coffee/juice and snacks at break. Lunch is on your own except for the Wednesday workshop day and Friday in the Exhibit Hall where lunch salads or pasta dishes will be prepared to order.

5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Denver Art Museum 

Tickets are required; please register at the Hyatt ** by 5:30 pm ** and before going to the museum. The Denver Art Museum is within walking distance from the hotel, but there are also shuttle buses running from the Welton St. exit of the hotel every 5 minutes from 5:30 on. Buses will return from the DAM continuously until 7:15. The Welcome Reception goes to 7:00pm and is only designed to hold you over until dinner.

The Thursday and Friday receptions last longer, and there will be plenty of food for those passing up dinner on the town and great appetizers for those deciding to take in Denver’s restaurants and nightlife.

Program

You will receive the full conference program, and the print and CD Proceedings, when you register. However if you wish to read up on the plane, a PDF of the program and all of the papers are online at the conference site http://www.archimuse.com/mw2010/

Online

There wireless Internet access throughout the conference area during MW2010. For those not traveling with their own laptops, there will be some general-use computers in ‘Torrey’s Peak’ on the 2nd floor.

Engage

There are *plenty of opportunities* to interact with others at MW2010.

• Pitch an un-conference session on Thursday afternoon. Got something on your mind that isn't on the program? Suggest an issue for discussion! 
• Suggest topics to discuss at the  Birds-of-a-Feather sessions on Friday.
• Volunteer to have your site evaluated, or to be a naive users, in the Usability Labs
• Blog throughout the meeting – on your site or on http://conference.archimuse.com - use the tag mw2010 to get aggregated
• Post your pictures to the MW2010 Flickr Group.
• Get active in the life of the community
• Register your People Choice for Best of the Web 2010
