MW2008 Birds of a Feather Breakfast Topics
Sponsored by Johns Hopkins University, Museum Studies program
Topical interest tables at breakfast on Friday morning, are always one of the most popular sessions at Museums and the Web (well, except for maybe in New Orleans). An informal breakfast is a great chance to meet people with similar interests from very diverse institutions. You can share solutions to real problems, and even sometimes build relationships that flourish in the coming years.
At breakfast, you can join a table that interests you, or propose a topic on the spot and have others join you at your table. Topics suggested so far include:
- Geo-encoding collections
- Handhelds
- Mashups
- Open source
- Personalization
- Re-purposing media vs. making it new
- Recommender systems
- Science learning
- Second Life
- Social tagging
- Teachers using museum resources
Do you have any others to add? Please, leave a comment here!

The CDWA-lite and OAI discussion might follow nicely from the Meta-Art Museum Professional forum on Friday morning. I'd suggest reserving the Lacine room (the roll-your-own-session-space) for a follow on by those inrteresting in implementation.
Meanwhile, weccan easily set up the BOF breakfast topic on infrastructures, though it would help to be pretty specifgic so that those attending are interested in the same infradstructures you are:-)

I can't find any info online about reserving the Lacine room, I'm assuming there will be some sort of sign up at the conference? I think this is a great idea, I'm sure we can't be the only ones wrestling with CDWA lite.
Meanwhile I'll try to connect with the meta-art museum people to see if they have any ideas - somehow I missed the description for that session before...

I would love to have a sit down with some actual developers / webmasters and talk about our sites' infrastructures: frameworks, hardware, databases, Amazon S3, etc.
Also would love to talk with some people who are actually using cdwalite to build an OAI repository of their collections.

nate,
sounds like there might be two different things here... a breakfast topic on infrastructures, and a CDWA lite ad hoc mini-workshop? there is some space on Friday to do that kind of thing...
