Job: Senior Web Developer: National Maritime Museum
The National Maritime Museum (NMM) is at a crucial moment in redefining access to its collections and programmes. We have ambitious plans to make content available in more formats and across a range of platforms – at the Museum and beyond. We need you to play a key role in making that happen. Advising on our digital strategy, participating in research and development activities, specifying web architectures and acting as technical lead for major digital projects, you’ll ensure the delivery of an elegant infrastructure that meets our needs now and into the future.
This is as much about communicating with your design and content colleagues (through prototypes and documentation) as it is about writing high-quality code. So the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams is essential, as is proven experience of developing database-driven websites. In addition, you should bring a good understanding of PHP, Ruby, MySQL, (X)HTML/CSS, JavaScript and current software engineering principles.
Reports to: Head of Digital Media/ Digital Project Manager

- Stay abreast of developments in digital technologies and techniques and report on their suitability for use within the NMM. Participate in developing and promoting standards, such as astrotagging.
