From the posting:

"The National Library of New Zealand is a leading cultural institution and is part of a long and respected tradition that values knowledge creation. Enriching our nation’s cultural and economic life and its interchanges with other nations is central to its purpose. The National Library is focused on: collecting, preserving and protecting documents, particularly those relating to New Zealand, and making them accessible for all the people of New Zealand, in a manner consistent with their status as documentary heritage and taonga; supplementing and furthering the work of other libraries in New Zealand; and working collaboratively with other institutions having similar purposes, including those forming part of the international library community.

The National Library is now poised to launch its New Generation Strategy to 2017, as well as the new organisation design and senior management structure to deliver its strategy. Its operations will be transformed to unleash the potential of today’s digital environment: increasing the accessibility of New Zealand digital content nationally and internationally; fostering public digital space so that much more of the stories and intellectual endeavours of New Zealanders will be accessible online; and ensuring that New Zealand’s digital memory is preserved in perpetuity.
