Abstract

This session presented by Yoichi Kato, Julie Bishop, Paul Remer and Rob Rothfarb will be appropriate for anyone interested in interactive multimedia exhibits in museums today. Following a general discussion, we will explain the process involved in the creation of Exploring Edo / Virtual Edo, a project we recently completed for the National Gallery of Art. This project allows visitors to explore a virtual recreation of the city of Edo, the seat of government in Japan from the seventeenth through the nineteenth centuries. Using interactive 3D graphics, animation, and video, the Edo period of Japan is brought to life. We will conclude with an overview of how NTT MCL can partner with your institution to create an exhibit that integrates these technologies to provide an exciting and educational experience
