Abstract

Abstract (Paper in French) For a few years , museums and cultural institutions have been closely interested in artworks which are specific to Internet, commonly called Net Art, and commission, exhibit and acquire works. They find themselves directly confronted to totally new conservation problems, in spite of their experience in preservation of some contemporary art currents. Net Art works are dynamic and fluctuating and depend on a lot of parameters in order to be seen. The preservation is all the more complex and unpredictable . Different preservation strategies present themselves to museums : automatic and continuous archiving of the Internet, a qualitative museum approach based on the selection of works as well as a mixed approach in which works and fragments can be updated, re-created and related in many ways . %U http://www.archimuse.com/publishing/ichim03/038C.pdf
