Franco Tecchia is Assistant Professor of Computer Science with primary specialization on Software Engineering and Computer Graphics at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Italy, where is also a staff member of PERCRO, a leading European research lab in the context of Haptic Interfaces. He received a Master degree in Software Engineering from the University of Pisa and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University College London, UK. As an active member of PERCRO and a former member of the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics group at University College London, UK, he has over 10 years of experience with Virtual Environment development. His research activities focus on the design and development of complex VR systems, and include real-time computer graphics, virtual and augmented reality and software engineering applied to Virtual Environments. Franco is currently the head of the Visualisation Systems Group at PERCRO, working in the context of national and international research activities including the European Projects PRESENCCIA, DECISION IN MOTION, SKILLS and the NeO ENACTIVE and INTUITION, and the coordinator of the XVR Project, a large development effort for the creation of a "super flexible" VR framework.
