MW99 was the only international conference in 1999 devoted to the impact of the web on museums and museology.

Museums and the Web 99 featured over 150 speakers from around the world. Sessions, papers and panels explored theory and practice at both basic and advanced levels. Pre-conference workshops provided in-depth study of methods and issues. Exhibits featured hot tools, techniques and services.
