Your Background

Your Biography

I am an online specialist currently working at the BBC specialising in digital participation projects. I am currently running the BBC's digital team for A History of the World, a project that examines how objects tell a history of our world, in partnership with the British Museum.

My career has included time spent as an educator, publisher and interactive producer. At the BBC, I have developed teaching materials for partners in the Asia Pacific Region for the BBC World Service. On the Science website, interactive material to accompany the Walking with Dinosaurs series.

At the BBC's History site, I produced WW2 People's War from launch to archive. This project ran from 2003-2006, and marked the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two and gathered 48K stories from veterans of World War Two. The resulting archive site remains a significant resource for researchers worldwide.

Since September 2007, I have worked with the interactive team at BBC Radio 4. I am currently leading the BBC's A History of the World site. This project is a partnership between the BBC and the British Museum. At the project's heart is a History of the World in 100 Objects - 100 programmes on BBC Radio 4 which explore two million years of world history through 100 objects from the British Museum's collection. The project has also partnered with museums (over 450 have signed up so far), schools and historical organisations from across the UK. There are events, programmes and local projects running through 2010, and the site is building a digital museum of objects that have been uploaded from museums and the public. The site is a valuable resource for educators and history enthusiasts, and the programmes and site resources will remain online.
