Your Biography

Josh Perelman, Ph.D., Deputy Director for Exhibits, Programs, and Collections at the NMAJH. He has been working in museums for ten years and has over fifteen years experience working with Jewish organizations. Dr. Perelman served as chief curator of the Museum’s new core exhibition, overseeing the creation of the exhibition’s layout, design, and central narrative, the development of over 30 films, soundscapes, and media interactives, and the selection and installation of over 1,200 artifacts. He also supervises the Education, Public Programming, and Visitor Services departments at the Museum while leading their growth and development. Dr. Perelman completed his doctoral work at New York University and has participated in the development of numerous exhibitions concerning the history of American Jews in the United States at such places such as the Museum of Jewish Heritage and the Center for Jewish History. Dr. Perelman has spoken and written about the intersection of politics, performative culture and ethnic identity during the twentieth century and is currently writing a manuscript about Jewish modern dancers during the decades before and after World War II.
