Alex Elmestad is an artist, curator, writer, museum programmer, and Manager of Public Programs and Interpretive Technology at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. He received a BFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Kansas City Art Institute, studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and received an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Missouri St. Louis.

As a museum practitioner he has developed a wide range of programs that intersect with either a particular exhibition topic or explore the fundamental purpose of a museum as a space of cultural production. To provide wider and more diverse access to the museum he has used programming as way evolve institutions into social space laboratories. He also designs and implements a variety of emerging technological tools to provide the public more meaningful engagement with content being produced by the museum.
