Register for the Summer Educational Institute for Visual Resources & Image Management

Consider registering before the end of April for SEI 2015, to be held at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign from June 9-12.

In its twelfth year as a joint program between the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) and the Visual Resources Association Foundation (VRAF), the Summer Educational Institute for Visual Resources and Image Management is an intensive workshop featuring a continually updated curriculum that specifically addresses the requirements of today’s information professional. Expert instructors will cover the following topics:

  • Intellectual property rights
  • The digital life cycle (developing, managing, and delivering digital collections)
  • Metadata and cataloging
  • Digital preservation
  • Uses of images in the digital humanities

This week we are featuring testimonials from SEI graduates. Today we feature Worcester Art Museum Assistant Registrar Sarah Gillis, who attended SEI in 2013:

“SEI is a great resource for all professionals who work with digital assets.  As a museum professional, I found it critical to establish relationships with the academic and other cultural institutions who rely on the digital assets museums oversee. The sessions pertaining to copyright and metadata were incredibly beneficial–these are factors which I deal with on a daily basis. The networking opportunities are priceless and a great getaway to live and breathe visual resources for five days!”
