We'll help you set up your environment and provide an orientation to tools and concepts of the Open Exhibits framework.&nbsp; Along with Open Exhibit Core, modules and templates are provided to help construct multitouch and multiuser exhibits.</p> <p>We'll explore free modules and templates and see how they are structured and how they can be easily customized. You'll have an opportunity to build some basic applications with Open Exhibits modules. These versatile exhibit modules function in a variety of ways.&nbsp; They can handle media elements and connect to social sites and Web services such as Flickr, YouTube, and Google Maps or they can be user-interface elements such as onscreen keyboards and menus.</p> <p>We will publish some of the customized modules and templates and see how they perform on a variety of multitouch hardware. We will try out these applications on consumer dual-touch computers and true multitouch LCD screens and a large multitouch table. We'll also show some examples of Open Exhibits software running on Android tablets and phones. You’ll leave the workshop with an understanding of how Open Exhibits works and what is required to create custom exhibits.</p> <p><em>*It is recommended that you take the Multitouch and Multiuser Design half-day workshop before this afternoon session. You should have ActionScript experience and you should bring a laptop with Flash and text editor installed to get the most out of this hands-on workshop.</em></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-program-type"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="field-label-inline-first"> Type:&nbsp;</div> Workshop - full or half day </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-nodereference field-field-backreference-event"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/mw2011/workshop/openexhibits_tools_bootcamp">OpenExhibits Tools Bootcamp </a> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-link field-field-progam-url"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="field-label-inline-first"> Site:&nbsp;</div> <a href="http://www.openexhibits.org" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" title="Read more about [title]">http://www.openexhibits.org</a> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-program-authors"> <div class="field-label">Authors:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/user/jspadaccini" class="username" title="View Jim&#039;s profile.">Jim Spadaccini</a> </div> <div class="field-item even"> <a href="/user/paullacey" class="username" title="View Paul&#039;s profile.">Paul Lacey</a> </div> </div> </div> <div class="og_rss_groups"></div> http://www.museumsandtheweb.com/mw2011/programs/open_exhibits_tools_a_bootcamp#comments MW2011 actionscript design Flash flex multitouch open exhibits http://www.museumsandtheweb.com/crss/node/12444 Thu, 30 Sep 2010 19:23:35 +0000 jspadaccini 12444 at http://www.museumsandtheweb.com Of Ansel and Atomz: Surfacing Deep Content On-line and On-Site at SFMOMA http://www.museumsandtheweb.com/biblio/ansel_and_atomz_surfacing_deep_content_online_and_ons <span class="biblio-authors"><a href="/biblio/author/65">Samis, P.</a>, <a href="/biblio/author/47">Mitroff D.</a>, &amp; <a href="/biblio/author/189">Johnson T.</a></span> (2005).&nbsp;&nbsp;<span class="biblio-title"><a href="/biblio/ansel_and_atomz_surfacing_deep_content_online_and_ons">Of Ansel and Atomz: Surfacing Deep Content On-line and On-Site at SFMOMA</a>. </span> (<span class="biblio_authors"><span id="14"><a href="/biblio/author/1920">Trant, Jennifer</a></span>, <span id="14"><a href="/biblio/author/1661">David Bearman</a></span></span>, Ed.).<u>Museums and the Web 2005: Proceedings. </u> <span class="Z3988" title="ctx_ver=Z39.88-2004&amp;rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Adc&amp;rfr_id=info%3Asid%2Fconference.archimuse.com&amp;rft.title=Of+Ansel+and+Atomz%3A+Surfacing+Deep+Content+On-line+and+On-Site+at+SFMOMA&amp;rft.date=2005&amp;rft.aulast=Samis&amp;rft.aufirst=Peter&amp;rft.au=Mitroff%2C+Dana&amp;rft.au=Johnson%2C+Tana&amp;rft.pub=Archives+%26+Museum+Informatics&amp;rft.place=Vancouver%2C+British+Columbia%2C+Canada&amp;rft_id=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.archimuse.com%2Fmw2005%2Fpapers%2Fjohnson%2Fjohnson.html"></span><div class="og_rss_groups"></div> http://www.museumsandtheweb.com/biblio/ansel_and_atomz_surfacing_deep_content_online_and_ons#comments MW MW2005 discovery Flash Google legacy software metadata multimedia resource discovery on-line collection database search engine user interface design xml mw2005 http://www.museumsandtheweb.com/crss/node/8265 Wed, 02 May 2007 00:57:39 +0000 jtrant 8265 at http://www.museumsandtheweb.com Taking Teaching by the Tusks: Introducing Pachyderm 2.0 http://www.museumsandtheweb.com/biblio/taking_teaching_tusks_introducing_pachyderm_20 <span class="biblio-authors"><a href="/biblio/author/65">Samis, P.</a>, &amp; <a href="/biblio/author/335">Johnson L.</a></span> (2005).&nbsp;&nbsp;<span class="biblio-title"><a href="/biblio/taking_teaching_tusks_introducing_pachyderm_20">Taking Teaching by the Tusks: Introducing Pachyderm 2.0</a>. </span> (<span class="biblio_authors"><span id="14"><a href="/biblio/author/1920">Trant, Jennifer</a></span>, <span id="14"><a href="/biblio/author/1661">David Bearman</a></span></span>, Ed.).<u>Museums and the Web 2005: Proceedings. </u> <span class="Z3988" title="ctx_ver=Z39.88-2004&amp;rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Adc&amp;rfr_id=info%3Asid%2Fconference.archimuse.com&amp;rft.title=Taking+Teaching+by+the+Tusks%3A+Introducing+Pachyderm+2.0&amp;rft.date=2005&amp;rft.aulast=Samis&amp;rft.aufirst=Peter&amp;rft.au=Johnson%2C+Larry&amp;rft.pub=Archives+%26+Museum+Informatics&amp;rft.place=Vancouver%2C+British+Columbia%2C+Canada&amp;rft_id=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.archimuse.com%2Fmw2005%2Fpapers%2Fsamis%2Fsamis.html"></span><div class="og_rss_groups"></div> http://www.museumsandtheweb.com/biblio/taking_teaching_tusks_introducing_pachyderm_20#comments MW MW2005 authoring tool collaboration Flash learning object open-source Pachyderm mw2005 http://www.museumsandtheweb.com/crss/node/8278 Wed, 02 May 2007 00:57:39 +0000 jtrant 8278 at http://www.museumsandtheweb.com
