Michael Epstein

Founder and Director
Untravel Media

I currently run a multi-disciplinary studio in Boston and San Francisco called Untravel Media (www.untravelmedia.com) that produces narrative mobile media for museums, civic groups, and filmmakers. We have developed numerous applications for museums and broadcast clients and learned a lot about how digital storytelling (for iPods, cell phones, and other mobile devices) can successfully mix with real world surroundings and installations.

Untravel has a history of boundary crossing, developing the first iPhone app to win an award in a major Film Festival (www.parkmanmurder.com) and the first location-based video guide (web.mit.edu/frontiers). My background is in audio production, education and product design. I reported for NPR and PRI shows in the past, focusing on human issues in technology. I have developed location-based applications for international carriers (Sprint, Telefonica, AT&T), and worked as a media/computer teacher in K-12 schools in San Francisco, St. Louis, Morocco, and Israel.
