Amanda Robertson

As owner of Imedia, a Raleigh-based design firm that specializes in print and interactive media, Ms. Robertson has pursued projects that present a challenge in the design of educational and cultural materials, particularly for K-12 students and teachers.

An adjunct professor in the College of Design at NC State University, Ms. Robertson has worked with public school teachers in workshops for NC State Humanities Extension and Publications, and has taught graduate students in the College of Education about using technology in classroom instruction. She has developed instructional websites for middle school students, including a site to explore and share literature via an online middle school, and a site to study the culture and history of Russia through an Internet-based virtual travel program. Most recent projects include a prototype Internet application for cross-cultural education within developing nations and a teachers resource and educational website for the North Carolina Museum of Art.

Ms. Robertson has presented her work at several national conferences, including the National Middle School Association and the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education, and has recently published her research on design process and online cross-cultural education systems in the International Journal of Social Education.

Ms. Robertson also serves on the Committee for Increasing Teacher Knowledge with the NC Center for International Understanding and NC in the World, whose mission is to promote international experiences for educators.

Her educational background includes a Bachelorís of Graphic Design and a Masterís of Industrial Design, both from the College of Design at NC State University.
