50 Ways To Make Your Site Communicate In Two Directions

Gail Durbin, Victoria & Albert Museum, United Kingdom

Mini-Workshop: 2-way Communication

The aim of this mini-workshop is to share and generate ideas for creating websites that communicate in two directions. Many museum websites are simply about telling people things and so communicate in one direction only - from museum to visitor. But in order to make people feel any sense of ownership it is important to include visitors' voices. This session will look at ways of doing this from hugely expensive setups to simple methods that could be implemented by a site with few resources. Whilst I will come with examples from a variety of sites, the core of this workshop will be small group discussions to generate ideas and examples. This information will be pooled and within two weeks of the conference I will send all participants the final list of ideas and examples. See the report on-line.
