Jen Spadafora, Jewish Women's Archive, USA

Mini-Workshop: Modest Means

Tackling all aspects of an organization's Web site as an individual or as part of a small team can appear to be a project on par with slaying the Hydra. Creating a framework for Web site development and maintenance that encompasses the need for big-picture strategic thinking as well as checklists to help track development tasks is always necessary to deliver a quality experience for Web site visitors; given limited resources, it is vital. This paper explores key aspects of creating such a framework: educating non-technical staff, setting priorities and delivering by deadline, determining when to hire contractors for specific skills, and tips and tools for managing workflow.
