Researcher at Responsive Ecologies Lab (RE/Lab) Ryerson University
Melanie McBride is a Canadian educator and doctoral candidate in Communication and Culture at York University (Toronto) investigating inter-sensory learning and communications practices involving smell and taste. Drawing on her sensory ethnographic field work in Canada and France, Melanie’s doctoral research investigates socioculturally situated practices of olfactory learning, communicating, and design with smell. Melanie’s doctoral research aims to realize an inclusive, and embodied foundation for intersensory learning that moves beyond the visual biases of communication, education, and interaction design.
