Christian Marc Schmidt is a designer with a focus on designing quantitative information. Before founding Schema in 2012, Christian worked at the design consultancies IDEO and Pentagram, and was also an interaction designer at Microsoft. His experience spans the fields of interaction design, data visualization, and media installation. His work has received recognition from organizations such as D&AD, the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD), Communication Arts, Print Magazine, and the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Christian has taught in the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at New York University and the Visual Communication Design program at the University of Washington, and has been a visiting critic at various institutions including Yale, the School of Visual Arts, ITP, and Parsons. Christian holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York, and an MFA from Yale University. Christian has taught university courses and design workshops at Parsons School of Design, New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Program, the Shareable Cities Conference in Taipei, the University of Washington, Cornish College of the Arts and the Seattle Public Library, among other venues.
