It turns out Tui’s career calling is designing and launching entrepreneurial programs. She was responsible for launching the Lightning Lab, New Zealand’s business accelerator program; First Steps to Export for emerging exporters and most recently New Zealand’s first cultural sector innovation accelerator Mahuki, Innovation Powered by Te Papa.
Her background includes working for New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) where she headed up the Maori Enterprise Team supporting major primary exporters into offshore markets. She went on to be New Zealand Trade Commissioner based in Melbourne and on her return to New Zealand headed upNZTE's exporter education program. Tui then spent over a decade working with start-ups and headed up Wellington’s Fashion HQ business incubator and was the former Chief Executive of Creative HQ business incubator.
Tui is the women’s representative for the Employer Support Council, Ministry of Defence and has held governance roles related to the protection of indigenous IP. Tui is a passionate supporter of indigenous, creative and women founder start-ups.
