Abstract:

In the near future, the unprecedented growth of the Internet as a medium of communication, information, entertainment and transaction - along with its increasing capacity to deliver not only text and images, but animation, live action and sound from one part of the world to another in just a few seconds at the request of one or more anonymous users - will re-define, if not totally eradicate, the whole idea of copyright. A younger generation of artists, who are growing up with the so-called Network Economy borne from the Internet, cares less about an old-fashioned idea of ownership than with distribution.
