Decode – Digital Design Sensations
The Decode exhibition showcases the latest developments in digital and interactive design, from small, screen-based graphics to large-scale interactive installations.
The website extends interaction beyond the physical space for users.
The Recode project offers users the opportunity to create an exhibition identity for Decode. The original identity was created by the artist Karsten Schmidt, who then made the source code and a graphic user interface available online. Users are invited to download the code, change it and then upload their own version onto the Decode site. These uploaded ‘recodes’ may also be chosen to replace Karsten’s original Decode identity, and if chosen, will be shown on CBS station screens across the London Underground network. The Recode gallery showcases users’ artwork created by reworking the open code.
The website also features live updates from visitors via a twiitterfall, and user-uploaded flickr images and Vimeo films.
