Wolfram Burgard is an Associate Professor for autonomous intelligent systems at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Freiburg. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Bonn in 1991 where was a research assistant until 1999. His research focuses on autonomous mobile robots and applications of artificial intelligence. For his work on autonomous mobile robots he received several outstanding paper awards at international conferences. He was the program chair of the 3rd European Workshop of Advanced Mobile Robots (EUROBOT '99) and was the organizer of the 23rd German Conference on Artificial Intelligence (KI '99). Wolfram Burgard contributed to the VIRGO TMR Network on vision-based robot navigation.
