Dr Robert Sanderson is the Semantic Architect for the J Paul Getty Trust, which is comprised of four programs - the Museum, Research Institute, Conservation Institute and Foundation. His role includes the design and direction of semantic information systems across those programs, both at the data and platform levels. Ongoing projects include improving the Linked Data representation of the Getty Vocabularies, transformation of the Provenance Index into LOD, and publication of the Museum collections as both IIIF [triple I F] and LOD. He has been a long standing member of the technical Cultural Heritage community with an emphasis on linked data and interoperability. He is the chair of the Web Annotation Working Group in the W3C, a specification editor and leader in the IIIF community, and on the advisory boards of many projects in the space including the American Art Collaborative, the Hypothes.is and Annotating All Knowledge projects, and Linked Open Data for Special Collections. In his previous position as Standards Advocate at Stanford University, he was involved in the PCDM digital repository model and the Bibframe ontology with the Library of Congress. He has also been a Research Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and a lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Liverpool.
