I remember the time before the web. I remember the day in 1994 when someone demonstrated Mosaic for me like the day in 1972 when I first laid eyes on my husband. I remember the time before the words personal computer came into being; I remember the time before fax machines. My son does not know what a fax machine is or why you would use one. I am still waiting for the memex machine, my personal knowledge stash, and my real personal computer. I started to study how we compile, organize, and use cultural information in 1977. I am still learning. I am working in a museum in which I learn new things everyday.
