As an Exhibit Developer at The Exploratorium in San Francisco Doug focuses on technology in the visitor experience. As a key member of the Indoor Positioning System for Informal Learning Experiences project Doug is on the ground looking at the various affordances and limitations of Wifi Triangulation and Bluetooth Low Energy proximity beacons as they can be used not only for visitor research but also for compelling and engaging visitor experiences. Doug got his Masters from the Interactive Telecommunication Program at NYU and B.A. in Art History and Visual Arts from Occidental College. Unable to sit still, his professional background ranges from documentary film and motion graphics to architectural metal fabrication and large scale public art. Doug has also done research on applications of Open Source GSM technology in wildlife conservation, human rights activism and interactive art.
