Overview

The Manager of Online Engagement will be primarily responsible for developing the strategy for the Museum’s online presence, including growing and engaging our online communities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop strategy and execution for creation and syndication of content across blogs (currently GEH, D&C Arts, D&C YP), Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other social media and emerging sites.  
  2. Manage the schedule for content and contributors for all GEH social media channels.
  3. Manage the capture and editing of content from onsite programs.
  4. Identify and implement quick turnaround distribution methods for content captured at events.
  5. Explore other income-generating ideas for content (ie: smartphone app, DVD series of themed podcasts, etc.).
  6. Monitor conversations regarding GEH on social media sites and respond or coordinate response.
  7. Design and execute online membership program with membership team and web support staff.
  8. Create and maintain dynamic and interactive content for the Museum's web site with web support staff.
  9. Design and create electronic media (various e-news and e-blast campaigns, including launch of e-news directed to national/international audience).
  10. Establish and monitor metrics and analytics for tracking success of online efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, 3 or more years of relevant experience
  2. Must have broad (GEH) and deep (Social Media) knowledge
  3. Extensive knowledge of new media and web/digital-based technologies
  4. Ability to anticipate emerging online trends and lead GEH engagement where appropriate
  5. Ability to champion use of social media within GEH
  6. Writing, photography, videography, and creativity
